The bedroom is your own personal space. This sometimes becomes a curse as the tendency to be lax is high. We beautify areas of the house that are used for entertaining guests, such as the living room and dining room, that leaves the bedroom somewhat lacking in aesthetic appeal when in fact, this is where we can decorate freely because it is our own space.
The bedroom is our refuge from the busy life we lead outside. It must follow then that this space should be comforting, relaxing and rejuvenating. But how often do we see bedrooms in disarray? If you see a neat bedroom, try checking under the bed and opening the closet. If no clothes tumble out and no foreign objects are stacked underneath, then it is indeed a clean bedroom.
Set a budget for your bedroom. This will make your selection of decors easier. You don’t have to buy all brand new items either. If you have good pieces, continue using them granted that they fit with your bedroom’s new look. Shop in secondhand stores and flea markets. A lower price tag doesn’t mean poor quality. In fact, you’ll find a lot of unconventional and creative items from such outlets.
Choose a theme for your bedroom. It can be uniform with the rest of the house or a different one. For example, your home design theme is country, you can apply the same design to your room.
Repainting is cheaper than wallpapering. Opting for one color is cheaper too compared to using multi-colors. If you have more bucks to spare for cans of paint, painting the ceiling is also a good decorating method for making everything look seamless. However, this is not a prerequisite for a successful decorating project. Painting the walls, actually even just the accent wall, which is usually the one behind the headboard is absolutely fine.
Bring plants or fresh flowers into your room to add life, color and even scent to the room. Artificial ones will do if you’re not the kind with a green thumb. Just be sure to position live plants near windows so that they can get enough sunlight.
Adding a large- or medium-sized area rug with colors or details that stand out from your color scheme is another cheap yet effective way to make your bedroom livelier and more interesting. Aside from being just a great room accent, it makes your room feel more comfortable because of its texture and soft feeling to the feet.
You’ll be surprised at how simply rearranging your bedroom furniture will give the whole space a new look. Go ahead and try different arrangements until you find the right one that suits the room.
A simple change in beddings can instantly transform your room. If you have been using and alternating the same beddings for years, allot a budget for a new set. Match the color with the room’s motif.
Add more colors and designs though area rugs. These items will make your room look more inviting and well-coordinated with the new theme, especially if they match the motif. You can place one big rug in the middle or go for smaller pieces and decorate them in designated areas in the room. Ideal spots are beside the bed, in front of a cabinet or drawer and in front of the door. You can even put it outside the bedroom door for an ever-ready welcome sign.
With diligent research for affordable home decor stores, you can get your hands on nice-looking items for less. Be as creative as you want. Get inspiration from the designs from the rest of the house. After, your bedroom will be a much better respite. A cozy nuke and an appealing space.
